About this place

About Wli Waterfalls

Best for Nature lovers first-time visitors families photographers adventure seekers weekend visitors group trips

Wli Waterfalls is one of the Volta Region’s signature nature experiences and one of the strongest anchor listings for the whole directory. The lower falls are reached by a mostly gentle walk through the Agumatsa Wildlife Sanctuary, while the upper falls reward fitter hikers with a more demanding route and a quieter sense of arrival.

This is the kind of place that sells the Volta Region visually: forest paths, cliff faces, cool water, fruit bats overhead and the feeling of being away from the city without losing the structure of a guided visitor site. It works especially well for first-time Ghana visitors, nature lovers, families with older children and travellers building a Volta weekend itinerary.

Why visit

It gives the Volta Region section an unmistakable flagship attraction and pairs naturally with Mount Afadja, Tafi Atome and Liati Wote.

Before you go

Wear comfortable shoes that can handle wet ground. The lower falls are easier, but the upper falls are a proper hike. Carry water, expect guide fees or entrance charges, and avoid assuming swimming is always safe after heavy rain.
